We are the Pfotenpaparazzi

Marie von Pfotenpaparazzi

"The best camera is the one you have with you." (Jay Maisel)

I am Marie and anyone who gets to know me will notice that I have always been on the way with a camera. You never know when is the perfect light or time to capture irretrievable moments, moving encounters with humans and animals and all the wonders of nature for eternity. In the last 30 years of life and travel I have been tracking rare animal species in their natural environment. They all went straight to my heart, not only because of their natural beauty, but also for their danger of extinction. With my photographs I would like to draw attention to the importance of protecting rhinos, orangutans & other species and help to maintain their habitats. In my final thesis of Master in tourism I intensively concerned myself with sustainability of travel. I always look for the best way to keep the ecological footprint as small as possible. In the destination I prefer to explore the places by public transport, by bike or on foot.

"Look deep into nature, and then you understand everything better.". This quote from Albert Einstein has been accompanying me for three decades. I am Riccardo, a passionate  Pfotenpaparazzi.
For many years I was very much interested in the Austrian Alpine region as well as in the coast of the Northern and Baltic Sea. I never aimed to travel far away because there are many natural treasures right in front of our door. In 2012 I traveled to Africa for the first time and immediately felt in love with the sunny continent. From that moment I felt a deeper sense of longing for foreign lands. In South Africa I discovered my enthusiasm for wild animals and nature photography. Together with Marie we planned more trips around the world, always looking for special places, rare animal species and spectacular landscapes. I love the challenge of expressing the character of a new travel destination in my pictures. I never forget that long-distance travels are a privilege and I am grateful for all the opportunities to pursue my two passions: travel and photography.

The Pfotenpaparazzi pay particular attention to environmental protection and sustainability. Since this year we have been involved in the conservation of snow leopards in Central Asia with the NABU and adopted a small elephant orphan named Roho at the Sheldrick Wildlife Trust Nairobi / Kenya. In addition, we support the David Shepherd Wildlife Foundation with our pictures. If you would like to learn more about the respective projects, simply click on the logos below. We hope that we can continue to use our photography to protect nature.
